We fund organizations with strong and effective leadership that prepare children and youth from economically vulnerable households for fulfilled and productive lives.
The foundation values programs that bring stability into the lives of young persons by:
- • Helping children succeed in school
- • Fostering the development of healthy and trusting relationships
- • Supporting social and emotional development
Programs must provide one or more elements such as tutoring, mentoring, community engagement, leadership development, or enrichment; and be able to demonstrate positive youth outcomes such as academic growth in tandem with social-emotional skill development.
Strong applicants will provide school-based or school-linked programs and services that address childhood trauma (see link), consider community and personal risk factors, engage families and caregivers, and provide a foundation for lifelong learning. Preference may be given to programs serving foster and homeless youth, and youth living in neighborhoods that experience persistent levels of poverty.
